Cook County Leads with Transparency
The Cook County Open Data Site transformed Cook County into a world leader of transparency while adding an additional measure of accountability to its citizens. In a short amount of time, Cook County was able to achieve a comprehensive data-sharing platform allowing for agencies, citizens and developers to utilize the same web-standards in use by the City of Chicago and the State of Illinois. Over 200 datasets are now easily accesible by Cook County residents.
“Open Government will effectively break-down the information silos that limit the sharing of information and best practices throughout the different county operations. Data in a vacuum serves no functional purpose.”
